Kona Kai Resort
The Kona Kai hotel is a waterfront hotel located on Shelter Island with view rooms across the bay and “non-view” rooms into the harbor full of sailing boats. Reservations can be made online or by calling (800) 566-2524 and mentioning the San Diego Tango Festival. Check out their live webcam!

Best Western Plus Island Palms
We have secured rooms at the hotel next door to the Kona Kai, The Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina, which is located just at the end of the Kona Kai’s Parking lot! You can call 619-222-0561 and tell them that you are with the “Tango Group” for a $99 per night rate! The Best Western has poolside fireplace and complimentary bike rentals! (Bike is a GREAT way to get to lunch or see beautiful Shelter Island!) Check out our map page to see how close the hotels are!
Both Hotels have airport shuttles, so you might not need to rent a car. Kona Kai Resort and Spa is on the Old Town Trolley Tour Stop for convenient travel around San Diego, California. There is also water taxi service to Coronado Island, Seaport village and Downtown Gaslamp District.
Getting There
Southwest and JetBlue serve San Diego, but travel web sites do not have flight information for these airlines. You can often get a better rate by going to these airlines’ web sites than you can on travel web sites.
